Freezing temperatures see six of Scotland’s eight blood groups running low

Blood supplies across Scotland have been adversely affected by severe snow and freezing temperatures, and supplies of six out of the eight blood groups are needed now

Now in its 11th year, the Imam Hussain Blood Donation Campaign encourages Muslims and people of all communities in Scotland to give blood during the Holy month of Muharram – the Islamic New Year.

Please be aware have started running 2 additional tests on all donations (blood, platelets and plasma).

The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service is rolling out a new confidential online survey today, to find out what donors feel about the healthcheck questionnaire.

We are asking people to continue to make an extra special effort to donate at this time, particularly if you are blood group O or A.

We are trialing a new way of contacting you when it is time to give your next donation.

We have updated our guidelines on children attending sessions.

A kind-hearted farmer has put on a barnstorming display to make sure everyone gives blood this summer.
