It’s Blood Donor Week – Scotland ’25!
This is a very special week – it is Blood Donor Week in Scotland, leading up to World Blood Donor Day on Saturday 14 June 2025. Everyone at SNBTS is happy and excited to celebrate and thank donors.
The theme for World Blood Donor Day '25, as set by the World Health Organisation, is "Hope."
This week, we will be sharing lots of news, including amazing stories from donors, patients, and clinicians. We hope this will demonstrate how you give Hope to so many people throughout Scotland, and that your gift can last for many years (or generations) to come.
As we enter Blood Donor Week, we are asking for new donors, particularly young donors to come forwards, as new stats reveal 55% of Scotland's active donor base are now aged 45 or over.
Can you help us by encouraging a younger person to start donating? You could do this by taking a selfie when you donate or sharing on your social media what giving blood means to you.
We still have lots of appointments available in our donor centres and communities across Scotland, so please do book your appointment and join in the fun.
Blood Donor Week belongs to everyone and we want to make it as special as we can in Scotland.
- You can make an appointment to give blood online, or by calling us on 0345 90 90 999 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm)
