East Renfrewshire Provost supports blood donation
East Renfrewshire’s Provost is getting behind a campaign to encourage people of all faiths, and no faith, to give blood.
Provost Jim Fletcher met with faith leaders and Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) representatives as part of the Islamic Unity Society's Imam Hussain Blood Donation Campaign (IHBDC).
As part of the campaign, SABS reach out to other community, faith and cultural leaders, asking them to encourage their communities to sign up as donors. In 2019, the campaign is reaching out to communities across East Renfrewshire to encourage new blood donors.
I am delighted to support SNBTS, and would like to encourage people to consider giving up an hour of their time to help save or improve the lives of people in Scotland. Provost Jim Fletcher
Provost Fletcher said: 'East Renfrewshire has a strong tradition of blood donation, with regular sessions in Clarkston, Neilston, Newton Mearns and Barrhead. These sessions welcome almost 2,000 blood donors every year. I am delighted to support SNBTS, and would like to encourage people to consider giving up an hour of their time to help save or improve the lives of people in Scotland.'
