In the bag

Share

Yesterday was a first for many in Scotland, and it's fair to say Brian and Chris were excited and proud to give their first blood donations.

Chris, originally from Wales moved to Carnoustie eight years ago. Every time he saw an ad or social media post asking for people to come forward and give blood, he always wanted to help - but until now was unable.

Chris said, 'This is a huge step forward and something that I've wanted to do for a very long time. The process was so easy - professional thoroughout and very relaxing.  If, like me, giving blood is something you've always wanted to do, book your appointment and go along. It’s so simple.'

Brian, originally from Dundee, also gave his first donation in The Beach Hall, Carnoustie.

Brian said, 'This is such an exciting time for me, as a nurse I know only too well the need for blood. We've been campaigning for over a decade, this is another step in equality and the chance to help. A colleague of mine was involved in a serious accident a few years back and needed blood. I can now make a difference. It's such a change in culture - within one generation, I'm engaged to be married and able give blood. I would encourage other gay or bisexual men get involved, we now have this opportunity, so just do it - take the quiz and book your appointment today.'
