Livingston Blood Donor Centre
In August 2021, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) opened a donor centre in Livingston. This was a pilot, to help secure blood donations as many halls and venues were unavailable to us due to Covid-19.
Livingston Blood Donor Centre, situated in The Centre, Livingston, aimed to bring in 210 donations each week from donors living, shopping and working in the area. We are pleased to say the blood donor centre has been successful and has welcomed an average of 207 donors per week. We are very grateful to all of you who donate at Livingston Blood Donor Centre.
If you donate in Livingston Donor Centre, it is very important you continue to donate there.Book an appointment to give blood
At SNBTS, we continually review opportunities to donate, to ensure we are meeting the needs of donors, and making the very best use of public funding. A key theme is that donors wish to donate close to where they live. This is particularly important to keep travel costs down due to rising costs of living. When we opened Livingston Blood Donor Centre, we did remove local sessions from many parts of West Lothian.
As a result, we now plan to close Livingston Blood Donor Centre on Sunday 31st March 2024 and to return to communities we previously visited. If you currently donate at Livingston Blood Donor Centre, it is very important you continue to donate there until that date. We are currently writing to donors to let you know where to donate from April onwards in the West Lothian communities. Please continue to support Scotland's patients during this transition.
We would like to take this opportunity to extend our huge thanks to donors, our staff, staff at The Centre, Livingston, and all the local communities and groups who continue to support us.
Thank you.
