Driving donation: WH Malcolm show they're haulage heroes

Share

It's been one of Scotland’s biggest transport companies for over 100 years, and now they're driving home the importance of giving blood.

WH Malcolm are hosting a public blood donation session on January 22 at their Heritage Centre near Paisley.

Ker Malcolm shared how donors saved his wife Sarah's life after complications during the birth of their son Jack.

Ker is the Transport Development Manager and the fourth generation of the Malcolm family. He said: 'Blood donation is very important to our family as we went through a few complications with our son Jack.

'About 10 minutes after coming out of the C-section, an emergency team entered the room with alarms sounding throughout the ward. I’ve never been so scared.'

His wife Sarah had suffered a severe blood loss and required multiple transfusions.

Ker added: 'It was a really worrying time for the family as we didn't know what was going to happen next.

'If it wasn't for the generosity of Scotland’s blood donors, we wouldn't have known what the outcome might have been.

'We're incredibly proud of everyone who took part.

'Their generosity means more families like ours can have hope in the most difficult moments.'
