Your O Negative blood keeps Scotland moving this festive season
As an O Negative donor, you play an incredible role in saving lives across Scotland. Your blood can be given to anyone in an emergency - making your gift vital during the festive season, when donations can drop by up to 20%
Over Christmas and New Year, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service needs around 50 O Negative donors every single day to keep hospitals and emergency teams stocked for A&E, childbirth, and trauma cases.
Dr Alastair Ross, Clinical Lead ScotSTAR Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (North), Scottish Ambulance Service, says:
'At this time of year, we still see patients who urgently need blood.
'Our emergency teams carry O Negative blood in helicopters, planes and response cars so it’s ready to save lives anywhere in Scotland.
'On behalf of all of us at the Scottish Ambulance Service, please do book your appointment. Thanks to you, lifesaving treatments are made possible for many patients that we see.'
